UPPER ISLAND WOMEN OF NATIVE ANCESTRY Organization

Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry (UIWONA)

Comox Valley and Northern Vancouver Island. Its programs promote family wellness, build community connections, and celebrate traditional culture. UIWONA also works with other registered charities on issues such as housing, education, parental support, and employment.

To bring programs and services to the Aboriginal community that offer cultural awareness, education, and support.

To provide education experiences for children of Native Ancestry and their families and an opportunity for parents to enhanced their abilities to care for their children.
To provide support for families who are enduring hardship.
To provide training opportunities for women of Native Ancestry to enhance their abilities and knowledge.
To educate and work with other registered charities on needs such as housing, education, parental support, and employment issues.
