About Our Council
Dr. Tillman Briggs Council #4597, in District 2, was founded in 1958 through the efforts of Dr. Tillman Briggs, MacKenzie Witzel, James Rennis, John Langan, and with the blessing of Fr. John Tunner. It is named after Dr. Tillman Briggs, who was the instigator and first President of the Columbus Club formed in 1957, the precursor of the current Council which became a reality in April 1958 with the investiture of 51 members. The Dr. Tillman Briggs Council works closely with Christ the King Parish and the communities of Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and the Canadian Forces Base (19 Wing) in the Comox Valley. It has an outstanding record of accomplishments over a half century of service providing funds and volunteer labour for various projects in both the parish and the surrounding communities. Council #4597 has, throughout the years, been recognized with many awards for their efforts and contributions.
