The CVTRS started in 1985 and became fully autonomous and duly constituted as a Registered Society, with a Board of Directors, in January 1989.
The Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society is dedicated to providing a unique combination of equine related therapy and recreation for children and adults with diverse abilities.
Proud to be a fully certified and accredited Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association Centre
CVTRS is a centre of excellence for equine-led therapeutic activities, and the organization of choice for service users, volunteers and donors.
CVTRS provides unique equine-led therapy to enhance the lives of children and adults living with diverse abilities.
In addition to the Comox Valley, our programs serve Vancouver Island communities from Fanny Bay to Port Hardy, including 3 outlying islands accessible only by ferry.
We are members of both the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CANTRA) and the British Columbia Therapeutic Riding Association (BCTRA).
CVTRS receives funding from BC Community Gaming Grant but relies mainly on individual and corporate donations, grants, fund raising events and minimal rider fees to meet its operating budget.
