Volunteer Programs & Services for Seniors by Seniors Free and confidential peer support services to seniors age 55 years and older.

Individual Peer Support A trained and supervised volunteer senior will meet with you once a week for approximately one hour per week for a short term period of 3 to 6 months to assist you in making decisions to improve your life situation if you are dealing with such issues as loneliness, depression, loss, stress and coping with new situations. These meetings are based on the principles of self-help and personal empowerment. Senior peer counsellors are compassionate individuals over the age of 50 who have been trained to provide non-judgmental emotional support to promote wellness and reduce social isolation.
Caregiver Support Groups Support for people who are providing care and support to a family member with dementia or a chronic disability. Meetings are facilitated by two trained facilitators and include informal discussions, speakers, videos, education and information. Two women’s groups and one men’s group meet once a month.
